Kick Cancer Soccer Camp

Kick Cancer Soccer Camp San Antonio June 3 2017

The Fourth Annual San Antonio’s Kick Childhood Cancer Soccer Camp will be held on Saturday, June 3rd, 2017 from 9:00 am to12:00 noon at Star Soccer Complex.

The Kick Cancer Soccer Camp is a camp with a purpose! Its mission is to bring together children/youth with top area soccer players and coaches for a day of soccer fun while raising awareness and funds in support of pediatric cancer research. Every year, over 350 campers from across Texas participate raising nearly $20,000 to support childhood cancer research.  Last year, San Antonio’s camp successfully raised over $5,000!

As many of you know, the Castros’ initiated San Antonio’s camp in 2013 to honor and remember their beloved son, Nicolas “Nico” Ramírez Castro.  Nico—a talented, witty, caring and athletic boy—dreamed of becoming a professional and international soccer player.  But, Nico’s dream was cut short.  At the age of 9 he was diagnosed with childhood hepatocellular carcinoma, a malignant cancerous tumor.  After a 16-month courageous journey to find a cure, the Castros’ lost Nico on November 18, 2012, at the age of 11.

Each year in the U.S., an estimated 15,780 children are diagnosed with cancer. This heartbreaking disease continues to scar families and communities. This is why families like the Castros’ dedicate themselves to combating this terrible illness—to remember Nico’s love of life, his compassion for others, and his passion for soccer; and to stand with families facing childhood cancer today.

STAND WITH HEM IN THIS FIGHT!  The Castro’s goal is to have 150 children and youth participate in the camp and to raise $10,000 for pediatric cancer research efforts in San Antonio! But they need your support.
